The long-awaited Mack Hatcher extension in Franklin opened to traffic in November before a ribbon cutting a few weeks later. The road was extended from Hillsboro Road out to Westhaven off New Highway 96 West. Construction began on the $45 million project in December of 2018. A large portion of the extended road is a half-mile bridge, the longest in the county, named after the late state Rep. Charles Sargent, who passed away in November 2018.
