In these uncertain times I decided we were all due for an issue that focuses on the one thing we can all agree on. The one thing that unites us and brings us all together...FOOD!
Dinner with our kids and family around the table has become a cherished side effect of the pandemic. Even the occasional socially distanced beer with a friend, take out from our favorite eatery, or pulling fresh basil and tomatoes from our garden has become a true gift.
Food provides comfort and a sense of normalcy during a time that is anything but normal.
Many of us have found more time to cook now that we are not hurried off to practice with the kids 4 nights a week, attending events and fundraisers at night, or heading out to sporting events and concerts.
Yes- we miss those times too. But we are filling the gap by cooking more and trying new things. Some of us are baking or gardening more.
(I made tomato pie for the first -time last week.) Some of us are getting outside to enjoy the fresh air at a much needed, slower pace.
This issue brings opportunities to try something new. You can book a special occasion with Picnic PopUp, or try a new restaurant like Vui’s Kitchen or Just Love Coffee Café or support High Hopes Supper Club and a local restaurant. You may even want to support a local side business by doing a drive by at Sourdoughs of Somerset for some fresh basil and burrata.
Wherever your next FOOD adventure takes you be grateful for its way of bringing us all together!
